I love this coat! Why? Because it is stylish, it does a great job of keeping you comfortable in bad weather AND it is a money saver! This jacket looks great and fits well with plenty of room to move when wearing it. It is extremely warm in really cold weather and it can be used in several configurations which makes it more than worth the money. 1)The outer layer can be used as a wind-breaker or a light rain coat for those gloomy days when it may sprinkle. (Not for use in heavy rain, though). 2)The inner layer can be used as a warm fleece on cold days when you want to feel comfy but not bulky. 3) Put the 2 together and you have an awesome snow coat that will not only keep you warm in bad weather, it will cut the wind AND it will keep you nice and dry. What more could one want in a winter coat? This is ctually the second time I have bought this coat for my granddaughter. She loves the style and the versatility so much that I bought one in my size for myself, too!I purchased three of these for my 3 daughters aged 8, almost 7, and almost 5, for the winter here in North Carolina. I paid under $70 for each, and it was one of the only options I found for this type of quality jacket\fleece combo for under $100. It comes in a variety of color combinations, so each of my girls were able to get different looking styles of the same jacket in colors each of them liked. They arrived Prime 2-day, and using the Columbia size chart, fit perfectly with good room to grow. I expect to squeeze 2 seasons out of each before we hand-me-down them!! The fleece is different than the Columbia fleeces you might see in the store, as they have hidden connectors for the jacket to snap onto. The fleeces also have a windbreaker-type covering over the top chest part of the fleece in a coordinating shade, making them basically 2 tone. They are super cute, and my daughter loves that she can wear it as only a fleece! Very warm, versatile, very well priced, and Columbia quality. We're very pleased with this purchase! This is a great coat and very warm. My only complaint is that the sleeves on the inner fleece are shorter than the sleeves on the outer coat. The outer coat fits my daughter well, but when she wears only the fleece the sleeves don't reach her wrists. She is 12 and we ordered a large. She has other Columbia products in this size that fit her, so I think it's probably unique to the design of this particular coat. I am pretty sure the XL would be far too large, so we've stuck with this one. She'll still get good use out of it as a system and out of only the outer shell. Here in Wisconsin, we keep getting hit over and over again with the so-called "polar vortex" - it is painfully cold. So it is important that our girls be safe when they are outside may that be in transport to school or wherever. This coat is a 3-in-1 so it is well layered and insulated to keep you extra warm during the cold winter months, but the inside layer can easily zip out to become a spring or fall jacket as well. I ordered this up a size, for my daughter, who usually wears a size 7 - the size medium fits her well and we may be able to get two years out of it this way. The hood fits snuggly and isn't as insulated as the rest of the coat, but it is windproof and she has noticed a huge difference in warmth! My 7 year old daughter fell in love with this coat as soon as it arrived. In case you can't tell from the description, this coat can actually be used 3different ways. The inner liner is a cute pink and black fleece which looks like the outer shell. It's nice for our North Carolina fall weather. The outer shell can be worn by itself also. It's waterproof and light weight. It's nice for rainy days that aren't too cold. And when you attach the shell to the fleece, you have a coat that is warm, water-proof, and keeps the wind off of your child. Great quality and style.I ordered the size larger for my grand daughter . She is in size 8 everything else but went to the 10-12 and if fit perfectly, with some growing room, I am certain she will wear it next year without being grossly big for this year. . It is excellently made and is true to online picture color. The jacket comes down well be low the waistline to help protect against the waistline freeze so many cheaper jackets have. The price is typical for Columbia but my experience with Columbia is that they are worth it.I bought this coat for my five year old. It fits really well and is very warm which is important for Midwestern winters. The coat has two layers that can zip apart and be worn separately. The inner lining is fleece and is great for chilly fall days and the outside layer will be great in the spring as it is water resistant. The hood is a good size (sometimes hoods are huge!) and will be great for playing in the snow. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. The color is as pictured, the fit is great for my taller girl. The only issue she has is the hood. It seems a bit smaller than the other jackets and to put it on she has to unzip the coat a bit or it will choke her. All in all it's a great coat that will get her through PNW rainy season.
