The shorts fit well and run true to size. They are short, but perfect for shorter people! I’m 5’2”. They have a fair amount of stretch and are flattering and comfortable.I wear them out on the trail or to dinner with a nice dress shirt.I originally bought one size larger than normal because of previous reviews that I read. I bought a size 12 but ended up returning it and getting a size 10 instead. My pants size varies, depending on material, brand, style, etc. so it's always hard for me to know what size I am for sure for any given bottom. My hips (around my body at the hipbones) measure 39 inches. The size 12 shorts waistband sat directly on my hips and size 10 shorts sit on top of my hips. The waist on these shorts are a lot higher than I am used to in my daily wear but I bought these for my futures travels and being more covered up was my intention. All my shorts are too short for travel, especially for the more conservative countries. The bottom hem of these size 10 hit right at my fingertips so I feel more confident that I am not showing too much skin. These shorts are veryyy lightweight and comfortable. There are two pockets in the front and two pockets in the back, all lined with mess. The shorts have two snap-on buttons and a zipper in the front. I wear them with a shirt on top (not tucked in) since the waist is very high and it makes me feel like a mom when I am not a mom haha. I have included the measurements for the inseam, side length, and waist for the size 10 shorts. I also really like the color since it still matches with my all- black travel wardrobe but adds just a bit of color without being bright either.Finally! I've been on the search for comfortable, attractive hiking shorts. You know the ones I'm talking about - don't ride up or hug your thighs yet casual and nice enough to wear out to eat after a long day on the trails? These are the ones. I typically wear between 6-8 in shorts but my legs are very long. Finding the right inseam is challenging for me. I started with size 8 (first picture, black shorts) but the fit was too tight and the inseam felt too short. They would have been too restrictive for me while hiking. I tried a size 10 next (2nd pic, blue) and they fit like a glove. A little extra room in the waist and a nice fit overall, without too much clinging on the thighs. I love the blue color and the fact that I can wear these around town with a casual shirt and feel stylish. The lines are straight and flattering and the picket placement is toward the front so the material doesn't stretch out and make your hips appear wider like side pocket placement often does. The back pockets are slits with an overlay of material so things won't fall out easily. I plan to order more colors!Based on other reviews, I ordered these shorts in a 10 when I normally wear a 4-6. Gotta love the vanity sizing these days. Columbia is probably right that I'm a 10. I'm 5'7", 140bs, 36 hip, 24 waist. I LOVE the fit, I love the stretch. These are super cute and functional shorts. However....I bought them for a pack trip and after a day of wearing my bear spray off my belt, the fabric really pilled from the rubbing of the nylon case for the bear spray. Also, the pockets dump everything out when you sit--whether in the car, in a chair, in a kayak or on a rock. To me, these are better shorts for walking around the neighborhood than doing anything serious. I've worn them hiking (great), fishing (great but shouldn't use pockets), kayaking (again, don't use pockets) and for general every day wear now. I'll buy another pair but they won't go into my pack again for use out in the back country, they're just not robust enough and I'm bummed that the kind of look like crap after only two days of wear due to the pilling.It really is form-fitting, which is exactly what I wanted. I didn't want shorts that are loose around the thighs. These are not tight though. The fit just right. I am 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weigh 125 pounds with an athletic build, and a larger-than-average rearend. I wish these had a V-cut front to fit a larger rearend better, but these don't stick out out in the back very much for me. They stick out in the back around my the top just a bit--just about half an inch, or at most, an inch. Girls with a larger rear know what I am talking about when I say that many pants and shorts stick out, not laying flat against the waist in the back because of a lack of a v-cut around the waist. It is very difficult to find these type of casual shorts wth a v-cut waist, but these worked out well enough for me. I took off 1 star because they don't lay flat in the back at the top. I wish I could buy these in more colors, like khaki or royal blue or red!In love with these shorts! I wish they came in more colors. I ordered a 10 and a 12- as my size depends on the fabric. The shorts have a decent bit of stretch to them, so I opted for the size 10.I have always had a hard time finding quick drying pants with belt loops. I work on boats and need to be able to wear a belt for a radio and knife. And of course the quick drying fabric is great for being out on the water. I’m glad I found these. I wish the “British tan” was a bit darker. The light color tends to show more dirt due to the nature of my work. But this is a problem with most khakis. 10-10 would recommend.These are great shorts, but I am deducting one star because the sizing is all over the board! I originally tried them on at the outlet in Palm Springs....I wear a 6 or 8 in every other brand of anything, but the 8 in these was so tight.....and the outlet didn’t have ANY 10s (I made them look in the computer!). After months of thinking about them, I bought a 10 online.....and it was so big it basically falls off! I then purchased a different color on clearance in both an 8 AND a 10.....and both of them fit me perfectly! So the sizing is inconsistent between colors and I have an 8 and a 10 that fit exactly the same! Buy multiple sizes if ordering online and just commit to returning some of them. Great length, deep pockets, logo is less dorky/prominent than some other styles (though I don’t think I can remove it with a seam ripper like I have on some of the shirts)I'm a UK size 8-10. I tried the size 4 (UK 8) first - much too big round the waist! Then tried size 2 (UK 6) - fit perfectly round the waist hips and tummy but too tight on the bum, and because of the stretchy material gave me a huge wedgie which looked absolutely ridiculous. If they were the right size round the waist they would be fantastic, but unfortunately they just fit completely wrong. Such a shame!I absolutely love these shorts. I went for a 12 for my UK size 14/16 bottom and they fit perfectly. I've bought a second pair in another colour as they are very flattering and a nice short comfortable length for hot weather.These fit well but can ride up a bit when walking. I've worn them twice and the stitching has started to come loose on the left leg. Disappointed especially at that price.Loved them . Lightweight, comfortable yet still stylish.Bought as a gift which even after use was appreciated!
