These are both great snow pants for younger kids. My daughter is turning 8, and tall for her age. We had wanted to try to find slimmer versions that were easier to walk around in, BUT, she's still more about sledding and rolling around in the snow than say, skiing.Though, the Starchaser (we purchased and kept both) is much lighter and less puffy than bugaboo. For that reason, it's better if kids are going to be super active -- like more running around than laying or sliding around. At the same time, it's far less insulated and I would go with the bugaboo, if they are going to be outside in very cold weather for extended periods of time, and / or really just being surrounded by snow and the elements. If you're selecting one, I would think on how they are going to be used - activity and length of time outside -- but would really recommend if possible to snag them both. One other note, if around 9/10, I would think about more ski styled pants that afford a greater degree of mobility and agility -- these are really still the little kid Christmas Story type puffy bell bottom ones. These are just what I hoped they would be. The adjustable waist promotes a good fit and leg length is long enough to allow a full season or more of wear for my growing granddaughter. Great ski pantsOrdered a large for 11 year old grandchild. They're a little bit long but when you turn the garment inside out you can lengthen or shorten the pants by adding an additional seam or removing stitches to make the garment longer. Very clever, pants will be good for a couple of winters. Also waistband can be tightened if needed for a more slender fit.BTW, they also match the color of fleece hooded jacket, which was a pleasant surprise.Bought the size L for my 11 year old daughter, she normally wears size XL in most clothes (size 14), but bought the size L which was a (14/16). The size L was way too large, even when the waist was cinched. The waste cinch is not on the inside of the waste band with a button like some pants, instead it is a tab on the side with Velcro. So I returned and bought a size M (10/12) instead. The size M fit perfectly with the waste cinch all the way the pants would allow. The reason I gave 4 stars is the length. For how big the waist is I would have preferred these pants to be a bit longer so they will last through another growth spurt. The length was perfect for now, the hem of the pants just touches the floor, so they were perfect for snow boots. My daughter is not terribly tall, about average in her class. So if you daughter is tall and slender these pants will not work. The pants worked great for our first snow trip, they held up well and kept her warm and dry. I got the black color with the shiny leopard spots and they look adorable, just like the picture. The pockets of these pants are lined with fleece so they can keep your hands warm. There is also a cargo pocket on the thigh, which adds another great functional pocket.Lindo y abrigadoThe Star Chaser pants are really nice, but run VERY short. My daughter is a "normal" size 5' 12-year old. The mediums are very short, but fit in the waist okay. The larges are the perfect length, but the waist is huge - not even possible to tighten it enough with the velcro. Unfortunately, we had to return both sizes. I hated that they didn't work because they are a really nice weight material - not too bulky, but big enough to wear long thermals under.Great pants, but originally ordered a Medium and had to return them. The size large fit well on my 12 year old daughter. She normally wears a size 12 and these large pant fit well with some room to grow. Love the adjustable Velcro for the waste. She said they are comfortable and loves the lined pockets.light and warm, only complain is the waist is way too big!!Padrísimo! Ordered an xs for my 4 year old and they will be great for a couple of years I think. The waist is adjustable. Very pleased with the purchase. She is average height and very slim. She can put them on herself which is great for school.Buena calidad, comodo y calentito.
